Six months in... what I've learned

You might remember I did this for one month and three months. I'm by no means a know it all, but it's been fun looking back at my other posts and seeing what surprised me. Here's my list for six months.

1. Reaching the goal of exclusively breastfeeding for six months is a huge deal to me. I never needed to supplement with formula and for that I know I am extremely lucky. It's bittersweet that we'll be introducing solids this weekend. Bitter because now she doesn't need JUST what I provide to flourish, but sweet because she's growing up ya'll!

2. Babies follow their own growth curve and that's OK (within reason). We have an adorable little peanut. Others have cute monster babies. We're all different and that's what makes this world so great.

3. Going off that, it's almost impossible not to compare her to other babies her age. Should she be doing this? Or that? Thankfully it hasn't consumed me and I know she's right where she needs to be.

4. Even though she'll say "mamamamama" not in relation to me, my heart still soars with love and pride.

5. She LOVES dogs. She will flail and shriek with excitement anytime one of them enters the room.

6. Her smile will melt away all (or almost all) of my cares and troubles. A gummy baby smile can make any day better.

7. Having her in our room for the first few months was nice because it made nighttime diaper changes and feedings easier. Having her in her own room for the last month has been EVEN BETTER.

8. Baby rolls are freaking adorable. She doesn't have many, but what is there is so cute.

9. A community of other new moms (especially with other January babies) is priceless. To know others are going through or have gone through the same things you are is so helpful.

10. She is already a daredevil like her mommy and daddy. This makes me happier than I could ever say :)
