The baby files: Week 23

Forgive me for being one day late. Yesterday was not a great day for me- I had a horrible migraine and terrible sinus pressure. Probably needless to say, I wasn't up for having my picture taken. Today I am feeling a bit better, but I am really hoping to be back to 100% soon!

How far along: 23 weeks
Total weight gain/loss: Another one pound gain this week, so up seven pounds from my lowest weight.
About the baby: Our little one is still about 11 inches long from head to toe and weighs a pound or more.
Maternity clothes: I've noticed most of my pre-pregnancy shirts aren't quite long enough now, so I think it's time to purchase a few more maternity shirts.
Best moment of the week: The Mr. felt her kick!! HARD.
Movement: She is moving around a ton and I can feel her throughout the day.
Food cravings: Pumpkin anything. Hence why I have two pumpkin pies in my house right now! (I swear I'm bringing one to work!)
The Mr.'s cravings: Caramel steamers from Starbucks.
Food aversions: Not really.
Milestones: The Mr. being able to feel her kick for the first time. The smile on his face when he felt her is something I'll never forget.

Thankfully it wasn't quite this bad ;)

The nursery!

All the furniture for the nursery is in and set up! I am still deciding on some smaller things like lighting and artwork, but it'll be months before I make the final decision, so I figured I'd show you all a sneak peek. Ready?

For those that don't know, the nursery will be in our bedroom. Our townhouse has two bedrooms, but they are separated by way too many stairs, so this made the most sense. PLUS our master bedroom is huge... like two rooms in one. So now it'll just function as such :)

As you come up the stairs, the amazing glider calls out for you to come take a nap
That floor lamp really doesn't work anymore, so I am trying to figure out an alternative. I also plan on taking down the obi and putting up some nursery art (discussed below).

We angled the crib in the corner since we had the space and we both loved the look
Still to come: a homemade mobile!
From the foot of our bed
Bookcase on the left for more storage (ignore the baskets- they've already been returned and replaced)
Dresser and changing table in one

Now for a few of the smaller details :) A couple weeks ago my mom stopped by and brought along two blankets she'd made. You can see them in the pictures above (on the crib and glider). They are so beautiful and soft and screaming for some baby wrapping!!

Impossible to capture the true beauty of the colors, but I tried...
Love the little pompoms on the corners :)
And another gift from my mom- our first batch of cloth diapers!

Like I said above, I am still deciding on the extras... I know for sure I'll be making a bird mobile with coordinating fabrics from the crib bedding. It'll look a little something like this:
Instructions and picture found here.

As far as wall art, I originally thought I'd making something like this using the flashcards generously posted by Ashley for use here.

But (and there is always a but!) I came across this gorgeous nursery and fell in love with the ABC and name print from Petite Lemon.

Decisions, decisions!

As you can see, there is still a ton to do and buy for everything to be finished! I'm not stressing about it yet since all we really need to bring our baby girl home is a mattress and some bedding, so if it doesn't get done we'll still survive.

So, what do you think? I think it'll look so much better when the bedding comes in and we get it put on a mattress (still to be bought). Mattress springs don't really do much for me :)

WGG: September 21

I'm still loving the delivery of fresh fruits to our front door from Washington's Green Grocer. I was a dork and forgot to take pictures of our last batch of fruity goodness, but we're still working on finishing a few things (mainly bananas, grapes and plums). The bananas that didn't get eaten are a little too ripe now, so I think I'll be making up some banana bread to enjoy.

I opted to get another delivery this week since everything sounded so good. Bonus? Everything looks good too :)

Clockwise from top: bananas, Cortland apples, pears, oranges and mangos in the middle.

My plan is to make homemade applesauce with the apples. Everything else is perfect for the take-along snack which I've found myself needing most mornings around 10am. One of my coworkers turned me on to mangos plus cottage cheese, so I see a little of that in my future. Yum!

The baby files: Week 21 and Week 22

I've been a bad blogger! Things got a little crazy last week and I never ended up taking my 21 week picture. I did make notes for the milestones, so here they are.

I told you two weeks ago we were going in for a follow up anatomy scan. I am happy to report that it's a girl and she weighed 11 ounces at that time (September 7th). Everything looked great- all the bones, organs and sizing matched up to my original due date, so we're holding steady at January 24, 2012.

How far along: 21 weeks
Total weight gain/loss: I actually lost some of the weight from last week, so I am back down to a five pound gain.
About the baby: Little Foot is about 11 inches long from head to toe and weighs about 12 ounces.
Maternity clothes: Same as last week- I live in maternity jeans but can switch between maternity and pre-pregnancy shirts.
Best moment of the week: Finding out that we're having a baby girl!
Movement: I feel her kicking all the time and I think (hope) the Mr. will be able to feel her soon.
Food cravings: I indulged in a Pumpkin Spice Latte from Starbucks. Bad idea, because that's all I can think about now!
The Mr.'s cravings: Surprisingly nothing.
Food aversions: Still none.
Milestones: Feeling definite kicks throughout the day.

Now for the 22 week updates!
22w

How far along: 22 weeks
Total weight gain/loss: I gained one pound this week, so officially back to my pre-pregnancy weight (six pounds from lowest).
About the baby: Little Foot is still about 11 inches long from head to toe and weighs almost a pound!
Maternity clothes: No real change.
Best moment of the week: Getting our crib and dresser set up, ordering the glider and also the custom bedding!
Movement: Her kicks aren't really powerful, but I can see my stomach move sometimes. Unfortunately she stops kicking whenever the Mr. puts his hand on my belly... Hopefully he'll feel her soon.
Food cravings: Still Pumpkin Spice Lattes from Starbucks and macaroni and cheese.
The Mr.'s cravings: Nothing obvious this week.
Food aversions: Nope.
Milestones: Feeling definite kicks throughout the day.

I plan on putting together a separate post with pictures of the purchases we've made so far. My plan is for later this week, but we all know how my plans seems to be working out lately :)

Our wonderful Labor Day weekend

If I could choose one picture to sum up our weekend in West Virginia, it would probably be this one:

No wait, this one:
 Nope, definitely this one:

Obviously there was a ton of play time in the pool by children of all ages :) The Mr.'s youngest niece (seen in the first and third photo) is a total dare devil and couldn't get enough of the throwing and twisting. The weather was perfect for daily pool parties and we totally took advantage.

There was also a ton of eating (remember my two pound weight gain this week?),  ATV riding, crossbow firing and more. It was a fantastic four days spent with almost twenty members of the Mr.'s family catching up.

The pups also had a good weekend with their dog sitter. It was such a relief since I was a complete worry wart until we left, but we came back to two happy pooches and a sweet note left behind.

All in all a great weekend :)

The baby files: Week 20 (AKA halfway!!)

Guys... I am halfway through this pregnancy. It's been a dream so far and I can only hope the rest of it will be half as good.

We went in for our anatomy scan on Thursday but the technician didn't get all the pictures and measurements they needed so we'll be going back tomorrow. Little Foot also hid the "goods", so we're still in the dark about team pink or blue. Stay tuned for an update later this week :)

How far along: 20 weeks
Total weight gain/loss: I gained two pounds this week (eek!), so I am back to my pre-pregnancy weight. I knew it was bound to happen, but it doesn't make it less of a smack in the face.
About the baby: Little Foot is about 10 inches long from head to toe and weighs about 10.5 ounces.
Maternity clothes: Same as last week- I live in maternity jeans but can switch between maternity and pre-pregnancy shirts.
Best moment of the week: Seeing our little one again... even if they didn't cooperate for the entire ultrasound.
Movement: If what I'm feeling aren't kicks, I've got a crazy rumbly stomach :)
Food cravings: Chocolate milk!
The Mr.'s cravings: I can say with certainty that he still loves those milkshakes, but he also snacked on quite a few cookies this weekend ;)
Food aversions: Still no. Man, I am lucky.
Milestones: Being halfway through this pregnancy!

Spot the differences

I have a little game for you to play on this fine Thursday morning! Are you ready?

Can you spot the differences between these two pictures?

I know it might be difficult to see with these less than stellar photos, but believe me- there are two big ones... Let me help you by putting them next to each other:

Yup, it's 150lbs of dog sprawled across MY side of the bed while leaving the Mr.'s side nice and empty. Believe it or not I was sleeping on my side just minutes before taking these pictures this morning.

On another note, we've got a busy few days planned with our anatomy scan at four o'clock today (eeeek!!), dinner with my mom afterwards, packing and then taking off for West Virginia for the long weekend. Hope you all have a fantastic Labor Day and I'll see you next week with some BIG news! :)
