We're number one!

But not in a good way. A study showed that the Washington area (tied with Chicago) has the worst traffic congestion. You can read the article here.

The worst part for me was this:

"The most sophisticated number crunching done on traffic congestion says the average Washington area driver loses 70 hours a year - almost three full days - crawling along in traffic, tying the region with Chicago for worst in the country."

Know what? I spend about 30 minutes in my car going each direction, which equates to about an hour per day. I do that five days a week, fifty-two weeks a year and therefore I spend around 260 hours in my car each year. That's over TEN DAYS and almost four times the DC average!

Thankfully I love my job now and I would gladly make that commute every day until I retire if I could stay this happy. But man, does that stink.

I spend about twice as much time in the car, ouch :(
